Passing of Khmer Rouge Former Leader Shows Revolutionary Sentiment Still Exists
July 23, 2006
The imperialist press is reporting the passing of Ta Pok, a former leader of the Khmer Rouge, who died of neglect at the hands of a bogus "human rights" tribunal, similar to the death of Slobodan Milosevic months earlier. This is not suprising, as we know the depths of imperialist depravity, but what is surprising is the ackowledgement in the imperialist press of popular support for the Khmer Rouge and its former leadership. In fact, a shrine is being built for Ta Pok, and even Reuters and the Associated Press are ackowledging the support for Kampuchean socialism via quotes from various local villagers.
Contrary to the idiotic sap stories of "genocide" and "killing fields", even mainstream newsreports are quoting people as eulogizing the public works projects carried out in Democratic Kampuchea and expressing mockery at the "tribunals" set up by many of the forces responsible for bombing all of the Indochinese countries not so long ago.
The biggest accomplishment of the Democratic Kampuchea regime, whatever its shortcomings, was its path of building nationalistic models of socialism and communism according to the independent wishes of the Khmer people rather than becoming flunkyists to outside powers. Whatever limitations of errors of the regime, we should remember occured under the context of attempting to feed a people devistated by US impeiralist bombings with a clear need to give priority to the peasantry and agriculture, that any and all decisions were made in the context of immeasurable difficulties and hardships.
When we accept the garbage stories of enemies of revolution, with regards to Kampuchea we accept the hoaxs built to defame socialism and communism designed to create the illusion that sometimes revolution is so aweful that objectively imperialism and dominationism are better.
We must reject "war crimes" tribunals for Democratic Kampuchea and the illusions of globalist imperialism spreading "human rights" and "democracy". The world's people desiring independence should call for the end of imperialist interferance and outside power dominationism, and for the restoration of Kampuchea's right to self-determination.
