Now we mark the 6^{th anniversary of the publication of the historic June 15 South-North Joint Declaration.}

This is another great result of the ideal of "By our nation itself" proposed in the June 15 inter-Korean joint declaration produced by leader Kim Jong Il, great lodestar of Korea’s reunification.

Great progress has been made in accomplishing the cause of Korea’s reunification under the ideal of "By our nation itself."

The ideal of the "By our nation itself" is an idea of independent national cooperation, great national unity and independence against the US.

The motive forces for Korea’s reunification are strengthened under the ideal of the "By our nation itself." Koreans in the south and north of Korea and abroad are the motive forces of Korea’s reunification.

Now the Korean people are rallied firmly around leader Kim Jong Il, who puts forward unique ideas and theories on Korea’s reunification and energetically leads the Korean nation for its realization. The Korean nation is united under the spirit of the love for the nation and national independence based on the spirit of Korean-first-idea clarified by the leader.

The entire Korean nation, especially, the south Koreans, who have lived under suppression of the US for over half a century, are asserting solidarity and alliance with north Korea, saying that the nation is superior than ideal, the nation is the best and the national cooperation is more important than the south Korea-US alliance. They have turned out in the struggle to solve the nuclear issue of the Korean Peninsula by the united efforts and reunify the country under the spirit of the inter-Korean joint declaration without foreign interference. I keenly felt it when I visited north Korea in August last year.

In hearty response to north Korea, the pro-reunification organizations in south Korea and abroad formed the June 15 National Joint Committee and therefore, achieved great successes in forming the motive forces for Korea’s reunification.

The Korean nation achieved world-startling successes by the national cooperation.

The pro-north Korean sentiment is promoted among the south Koreans and the inter-Korean cooperation and exchange are developing radically. Talks and negotiations between the south and the north of Korea are brisk in the political, economy, military, cultural and other fields. Reunification functions such as the national reunification festival are held regularly, thus the inter-Korean reconciliation and unity are promoted.

Today Korea’s reunification movement is developing into a nationwide movement involving the entire Korean nation who supports the June 15 joint declaration.

The reunification movement in south Korea was confined to some progressive civic organizations, youth and student and pro-reunification figures before the publication of the June 15 joint declaration. But now it develops into a nationwide movement involving workers, peasants, youth and students, women of the south and the north of Korea as well as politicians, businessmen, literary men, artistes and religionists.

Now the reunification movement in Korea is turning into a nationwide movement relying on the pro-reunification motive forces.

Korea’s reunification is developing into an independent reunification struggle against the US under the ideal of the "By our nation itself."

The US is the main obstacle to Korea’s reunification. A fierce struggle against the US will advance reunification movement.

According to a data from south Korea, 46 percent of the south Koreans regard the US as the biggest obstacle to reunification, 64 percent asserted that south Korea should take independent way in relations with the US. Some people said that the US must be designated the principal enemy not north Korea.

The south Korean people’s independent struggles against the US are waged in a massive way.

Typical were struggles against Bush’s preposterous comment designating north Korea as "axis of evil" in January, 2002, against US President Bush’s visit to south Korea in February, 2002 and against the US army who killed two school girls by the armored vehicle with attendance of more than 4 million people from June to December in the same year. More than 13,000 cases of struggle against the US with the attendance of more than 20 million people were staged across south Korea for 5 years after the publication of the inter-Korean joint declaration.

The struggles against US are waged in various forms and method in south Korea.

Hundreds of the anti-US websites were opened, many songs against the US such as "Laudable cake," "Torai Bush," "Fucking USA" and "Paper plane" were composed and sung across south Korea and bell of mobile phones were chosen with the anti-US songs.

Anti-US sentiments are prevailing when the south Koreans watch TV or in saloon and US President Bush is the focus of public censure, some salons are opened for those who are tired after the anti-US protest, south Korea is seething with anger against the US, the anti-US sentiment is prevailing among teens to elders and pupils of high and primary school are humming the anti-US songs through the nose and it shows how the anti-US sentiment is current among the south Koreans, the south Korean publications reported.

Now 87 percent of south Koreans said that they approve with the anti-US sentiment and 56.1 percent said that they dislike the US. In addition, 62.9 percent express their disapproval of Bush’s hard-line policy toward north Korea that it is unhelpful to the inter-Korean relations.

The mass media of south Korea carry articles attracting those who concerned with Korea’s reunification. According to it, the south Korean people denounced that the US is a ringleader of disturbing peace in the world, possessing a large amount of the weapons of mass destruction and conventional weapons. In particular, the middle class and even politicians of the ruling and opposition parties, who had ignored the anti-US struggle, regarding it as a silly act of minority pro-north Korean extreme and ultra-leftists, express their disapproval of the US intervention into internal affairs of south Korea, arbitrariness and hard-line policy toward north Korea. The south Korean daily "Nodong-Ilbo" warned that the south Koreans will fight against the US, if the US breaks out a war in the Korean Peninsula.

The struggle for independent reunification of Korea are waged throughout south Korea under the banner of the June 15 joint declaration and the ideal of the "By our nation itself."

The US and the pro-US conservatives are making desperate efforts to hinder the reunification train that is running along the track of independent reunification.

No force in the world can check the advance of the Korean people for the June 15 era under the ideal of the "By our nation itself."

The Korean nation will accelerate independent reunification against the US by strengthening the motive forces for reunification under the leadership of the sun of Songun. The day will surely come when the cheer of "Long live Korea’s reunification!" reverberate throughout the world.

The US Solidarity Committee to Support the Anti-Imperialist National Democratic Front and the South Korean People’s Struggle together with the world progressive people will vigorously intensify the struggle to support the proud and brave Korean people.
