The True Path for Ensuring the Destiny of the Nation and the Country

Ten years have passed since leader KIM JONG IL published his work “On Preserving the Juche and National Character of the Revolution and its Construction” on the 19^th of June 1997 .

Many nations aspiring for independence have received this article with great enthusiasm, support, and applause. It was in this article that the dear leader explained that the masses are the masters of their destiny, and as such they must construct the revolution in the Juche way. To construct the revolution in the Juche way means that the masses must assume control of the revolution and to steer it in creative ways to achieve the destiny of the nation and the country with dynamic independence and great enthusiasm.

To build the revolution in the national character means to rely on the genuine national identity and proud national heritage of the people and to manifest that in all aspects of their social life. Therefore, to preserve the Juche method and the national character of the revolution are the two basic necessary tenants that ensure the victory of the cause of independence of the people and are in harmony with the historical and material conditions that the people live in.

The nation and the country are the two vital sources of life of the people and that which guarantees their mutual destiny. The destiny of the people and the country is one that is inseparable. So as the people assume control of their destiny, country, and nation, one cannot guarantee the independence of one’s country without guaranteeing first the independence of the people themselves.

To safeguard the Juche and national character of the nation is to truly work for the emancipation of all humanity and is the sure manifestation of internationalism. In contrast to that, trespassing on the Juche and national character of any nation leads to conflict and destruction amongst nations, as we see today in many parts of the world.

In consequence, to love one’s country and nation constitutes the surest way for one to preserve the Juche and national character of the nation. One cannot work truly for one’s independence without first loving ones nation and country and working for the independence and prosperity and pride of his country.

Each nation must solve its own problems based on its own ideology and one’s own belief system, and not fall into the pressures of outside forces, nor seek others in solving one’s own problems. Each nation must find its own solutions to the economic and social obstacles it comes across, and to manifest this method in all aspects of managing their country.

To rely on one’s own internal forces and capabilities are the surest way to preserve the Juche character of the nation. For that to be accomplished, all the economic and military forces, as well as a strong political force, is needed to be bolstered in the unity of the nation and in forming the single destiny of the people.

Furthermore, to preserve the national and Juche character of the revolution one must encourage national pride and rely on the national heritage of the nation. One must seek self-pride and the pride of the national heritage of the nation as the driving forces of the nation’s prosperity and accomplishment.

To resurrect the revolution in the Juche and national method it is necessary to struggle against the forces of oppression and to combat imperialism. Imperialism will never cease its aggression and evil plans against nations. The examples of Iraq and Afghanistan today are sure testaments to this fact. All illusions about imperialism must be shattered in this regard. Similarly, the illusions of fear of imperialism are unnecessary, because imperialism need not be feared. If one should combat imperialism one would quickly realize the fragility of imperialism and be able to shatter the illusions built around it. In this combat for independence against imperialism, one must fight the traitors to the nation who turn their back on their own nation and become agents of imperialism.

Korea was under the occupation of Japanese imperialism and was a colony in the first half of the previous century, yet it was true to its Juche path and cause of independence and became victorious by resurrecting the Juche and national character of its revolution.

It was able to gain independence and to build a shinning model of socialism that is centered on the masses. It was able to defend its socialist state against the turmoil of international changes taking place and to protect itself from outside imperialist aggression, and is now pushing forward its socialist state to more accomplishments into the present century and into a prosperous and great future.

  Korea’s present reality is an example of the success of the method of preserving the Juche and national character of the nation, and in excelling it into the path to victory forward in accomplishing its cause of independence, prosperity, and for fulfilling its destiny.
