Which of the Arab Political Parties Won?
--- Ziad Shaker elJishi in Arabic
This short article by Ziad Shaker elJishi appeared on the Arab Nationalist list on March 1, 2008 under the title Who Won of the Arab Political Parties. It argues that the Iraqi Ba’ath is clearly the winner. It lists the shortcomings of the other major political Arab parties such as the Islamists, Nasserites, and Communists in comparison.
Particular emphasis was given to the role Jews and America played in destroying the Soviet Union, the role of revisionism, and the infiltration of Jews into Communist parties.
The failure of the Communist Arab parties over the religious question in general, and Islam in particular and the failure on the national question were also discussed.
The article also highlights the roots of the Islamic political movement and the rise of Arab nationalism from an historical perspective, talking about the German philosopher Fichte, the French revolution, and the Greek works based on Plato's Republic, all of which led to the evolution of secularism in Arabia through Arab nationalism developing and away from the Islamic Califate which ruled prior to the First World War.
The role of the Nasserites with a non-aligned orientation is cited as too soft on imperialism, which necessitated a more radical approach vis-à-vis imperialism than that which was practiced in addition to the excessive reliance of Nasserite parties on Abdul Nasser himself who was a giant and important figure for the Arabs. The article also divides the current Arab homeland into a camp that is pro-resistance and one that is anti-resistance to US imperialism in particular.
